The mission of the Mental Health Association is to promote mental health, with the integration of physical healthcare, to improve the care and treatment of individuals with mental illness, and to remove the stigma associated with mental health disorders and addictions.

MHA is seeking a full time therapist to join our EISS Wellness Hub Team!

Qualifications

  • Master’s degree
  • NJ LCADC
  • Must have experience in providing psychotherapy.
  • Special Skills include: Use of Bio-psycho-social assessment tools to identify warning signs of behavioral and physical health crises; evidence based services; specialized Substance Use, Family and Group Therapy; effective engagement with individuals; ability to educate individuals on mental and physical illness and substance abuse/dependence issues; crisis planning and educating individuals regarding same.

Responsibilities

  • This position provides only Psychiatric Urgent Care.
  • Uses Motivational Interviewing to provide evidence-based services to dually diagnosed consumers in our Early Intervention Support Services program, including:
    • Supports Engagement and recovery and ensures that all services reflect SAMHSA’s 10 Principles of Recovery and Eight Principles of Wellness and Recovery.
    • Crisis intervention/crisis stabilization to help persons in need Early Intervention and Support Services.
    • Provides skill-building services, including CBT/DBT; Illness Management & Recovery (IMR); Mindfulness/Relaxation exercises; WRAP support; and Harm-reduction to reduce emotional reactivity, reduce substance use, improve cognitive functioning, and improve health.
    • Provides integration of physical and mental health by addressing both in treatment.
  • Provides on-call services to provide in-person crisis intervention/crisis stabilization, and telephonic support, and help individuals in need to access emergency meds, emergency respite, and emergency food.
  • Provides specialized Substance Use Treatment, Family Therapy and Group Therapy.
  • Completes all required documentation showing consistent and effective provision of MI and other evidence-based services.
  • Attends and participates actively in staff and treatment team meetings
  • Attend meetings with program partners/community providers for service coordination
